The lead sabot also shows us that it was never exposed to alot of moisture or ground action. There is some minor chipping around the fuze hole. This shell bears the rare Hotchkiss patent info on the base cup. It's very feint but can be seen around the edge. A small piece of the internal plunger fuze assembly is rolling around on the inside. A little earlier than the civil war but here is an artifact that witnessed the epic battle. An original, authentic Adobe brick that was part of the Alamo compound during the battle. This item was brought to Ohio University decades ago by a professor from San Antonio who donated it to the history department museum.Years went by and the museum was dissolved. My mother, who was a Secretary at the time, was asked if she wanted the brick and,of coarse, said,"Yes".She has had it in her possession since the early 1980's but now wishes to sell it.It measures roughly 15 to 16 inches long.7 to 8 inches wide.A little over 4 inches thick and very heavy!I would like to thank the Alamo for their help with my questions and thank you to Jim M. across from the Alamo at the History Shop for his knowledge and expertise in Alamo related documents and artifacts.A letter of provinance comes with the brick.More information on the brick will be shared with interested parties.Shipping will be a little extra on this one but I do not charge more than the Post Office total!By the way..."No"..I did not charge Mom a consignment fee!!!
