Phil's Pics:
This lttle critter was under the apple tree this morning. No doubt looking for Mom who was probably back in the brush.I wouldn't trade living in the country for R.E. Lees uniform!! I'd sure think about it though...
HE'S BACK !! Not the same picture as down below. This buzzard is back this summer up on his perch.I hope he's not bringing more bad news!!Hopefully this year will be better!!
These two were mixing it up at a re-enactment in Granville,Ohio a few years ago.The Yankee threw his sabre so he wouldn't land on it.The unfortunate horse and rider flipped over backwards but both were o.k. after the dust settled and the Rebel yell was heard!! I would like to give each of these cavalry men a copy of this picture that my Mother took but I've never been able to locate either rider. If anybody knows these two gentlemen please let them know there's a great picture of them that,I think, they would like to have hanging on their wall.
A great day digging in middle Tennessee.A Merrill carbine and a Confederate Gardner bullet popped out of the ground within the first minute we hit the field. As my friend said "Ain't nuthin funner" !!!! I agree !!
Same old barn as in the picture below. The buzzard is gone but unfortunately so is the green grass and leaves. C'mon spring!!!
I was heading down to the barn and saw this critter up on the phone pole. Dang...this can't be a good sign to start the day!!!!
Heading to Alabama with Dwayne from "Lost and Found Relics" to deliver a cannon to it's happy new owner.I think the south is preparing for another fight! Can you blame them??!!
Black beauty "Layla" couldn't stand it anymore and ran up the back pasture to be with us at our cook out on the back deck. Our lab "Rebel" is nose to nose with her buddy. All enjoyed the cookout!!
Rest In Peace Big Joe.
I would like to recognize Chaplain Joe Ginn and the fine members of the Colonel William A. Stowe chapter of the Sons of Confederate Veterans Camp #2142 and all involved for their efforts in obtaining two new headstones for Confederate soldiers 1st. Lt. Adam M. Roberts and his brother 1st. Lt. John H. Roberts who lie at rest in the Roberts cemetery Cherryville N.C. A wonderful dedication ceremony was held on a crisp day and all who attended were proud to be there to honor their heritage and these brave men. Linda Hoyle showed her respect by dressing in period mourning attire. The flag of the Confederacy was presented to Mrs. Wilma Roberts who's husband Paul is a direct decendant of 1st. Lt. John Roberts. Hats off to you all and I know the brothers were with you that day with a big southern smile on their faces. Well done!!!
Look for the "Ohio Volunteer Relics" sign at the upcoming civil war relic shows.I always look forward to meeting you!
Charlie had a little more hair on his head when the picture on my home page was taken. He's lucky to have any at all after surviving his convoys ambush in Somalia where he was wounded. Still serving the troops Charlie and his wife Mandy raise money and items for our troops with "Cigars For Soldiers". Click on his link to see how you can help our ground forces all over the world. Cigars for Soldiers
Forty years have passed since the picture on my home page was taken in Viet Nam. Back then he would have been holding an M16. Today he is glad to hold a Cav.sabre and a pinfire instead. Still serving our country, Mike is a anti terrorism officer with the U.S.M.C. at Blount Island, Florida. We can all sleep a little more peaceful at night thanks to you and your associates at Blount Island. THANK YOU!!!!
A genuine Tennessee hail storm hit while I was visiting the Stones River Trading Company. Glad it wasn't cannister from a 12 pounder!
Beginning collector and friend Rob in the shop. Rob's Great, Great, Grandfather George T. Perry and his four brothers Armond, Arthur, Emry and Ezra were all in Co. A ,63rd. Ohio Infantry. All survived the war!!
Fun in the backyard with black powder!
A fun day relic hunting in Tennessee with my friends Dwayne (Lost and Found Relics) and Tom (Stones River Trading Company)
Dwayne holding a three ringer bullet that hasn't seen the light of day for about 145 years.
The sacred soil of Tennessee gives up another bullet.
My friend Claude in Auburntown, Tn. said that his great, great, great uncle was buried somewhere up in Camp Chase Confederate cemetery in Columbus, Ohio. It was good to find him. Pvt. Robert A. Lively, 25th La. Regt. C.S.A.
Rest in peace.
