Complete lead sabot from a Hotchkiss shell fired from a James. Cool hunk of lead with very clear grooves. A couple small pieces of the iron are still attached to the lead. $35.00
Rare, unfired 3.67" Hotchkiss shell. This shell was found under an old house in Murfreesboro Tennessee. This rare example is without flame grooves since it was a percussion fuzed shell. The iron is in very good condition since it was under a house and never exposed to the elements or ground action. The iron has a wonderful dark patina. The lead sabot also shows us that it was never exposed to alot of moisture or ground action. There is some minor chipping around the fuze hole. This shell bears the rare Hotchkiss patent info on the base cup. It's very feint but can be seen around the edge. A small piece of the internal plunger fuze assembly is rolling around on the inside. Rare, unfired 3.67" Hotchkiss with lead sabot and patent base at a good price. $385.00
